In Hello，Yang Xingaung anthropomorphizes two wooden rods，each of which are topped with a white Styrofoam ball bearing the word “hello” hand-painted in red，a DIY continuation of his 2012 exhibition “Violence without Mercy”. The wood retains traces of having undergone manual，labor-intensive processes—symbolizing impoverishment and hinting at some of the unfair relations behind the process of globalization.
